MEXICO Lindo y Querido

Malta!

Since this blog is about honesty... I hereby confess that I did not like Malta...
It was indeed beautiful, but sooooo crowded!!!! We stayed in a not so bad hotel, in Qwara (the qwara palace hotel). The area was nice and the hotel was close to a bus stop (and close to a stop from the touristic bus) . The hotel has a pool, but we could never use it: it was always super full!
At the beginning I thought maybe we were just unlucky, so we started walking and touring the island...

Malta does not have sandy beaches, it has beautiful blue water, but only rocky beaches.

The tour to Gozo was super super full!!!  the boat was crowded, but again, we thought, that once there things will go better.  The town in Gozo was nice, worth the walk (although the tour gave us a very restrictive schedule, we had to run a bit).  Then we went for the highlight of the trip: the blue lagoon: and again disappointment... don't get me wrong, the place is amazing, but there were so many persons in the water that you could barely see a spot to go in...

We found a lonely place just around the famous blue lagoon, and we enjoyed it for a little while (until it got crowded too). Going in and out of the water was hard, we had a hard time, and it was nearly impossible for kids and older people.  The rock makes it complicated.

The island tour was also not so good: we were unlucky and got a day of very heavy rain (in the middle of august, yes...)  But the walls of Valleta made the day worth it.

The blue window was impressive, and the blue grotto was a nice little boat trip, just to see amazingly blue water, but again not really spectacular (maybe we set the bar too high?)

We enjoyed the night of our anniversary, we drank Maltese wine, we danced, and we enjoyed our time there.  It could have been better, but it was good enough.
